When I look at the pic, I think "marine boiler".
If it is not simply a geologic formation, it could be the back plate for a coal-fired boiler, as the holes for the access doors are not present, but could be the front plate of an oil-fired boiler. That square cut-out portion looks to be the perfect spot for the oil injection system. The Titanic's boilers were 30 feet in diameter. The team was looking for a shipwreck. Did it use steam propulsion?
