On the CD, there is a directory, I think it is called BUDS, or something like that.
In one of the configuration files, there is a PATH line, that points to that directory on the CD. If you copy the directory from the CD to the hard drive, and edit the path to point to the new location, the game will look for the files on the CD in that new location. And welcome to subsim.
