Well, the article said he thought America should return to it's conservative roots...simply, government shouldn't interfere with anything.

So what are you saying Stealth Hunter? The Tea Party cannot survive a bad apple but the Democratic party can?

I've never even heard of this guy.

I have however heard of Wu and Weiner and Adams and Rostenkowski and Siegelman and.... well the list of criminal Democrats is rather lengthy and certainly more influential than this guy was.

Goes for both sides of the aisle, August - let's be fair. I'm not saying the Dems aren't crooked - far from it - but they're not exclusive to it, either.

Truth is, the reason crooks in both major parties don't make headlines like this one is that corruption among them is old hat.

Tea party makes headlines because it's new, it espouses change (which is always uncomfortable), and it's an easy target for the majority media to take on.

I don't claim that they are but they do not represent the future of the Democratic party any more than this Trinca guy who by the way has not been convicted of anything yet.

Actually criminal Democrats are rarely associated with their party in news articles. In our country a criminal politician has to be a Republican for the main stream media to mention his party affiliation.

The future, maybe not so much. The current reality across the political board seems more accurate.

Hmm. Hasn't been my experience, but that doesn't mean anything, either; I can't say that I ever really looked for it. The examples you sourced a post or two ago were good examples - I knew the stories, but never really gave a thought about affiliation.

I'll admit - right now, the situation in Congress and across the political board in this country has given me a very low opinion of our alleged "leaders" of all stripes. Both sides are no better than petulant children sulking because nobody wants to play the game their way.

Could you explain who those Wu, Adams, Rostenkowski and Siegelman are? I have never heard about them. Propably they have not done anything stupid enough to news to reach this side of the pond. Mr. Weiner made news even here so his case is familiar to me.

They're just some various Dems that have committed crimes. The list of is by no means complete.

For example:

A side note from an Euro perspective:

This is one thing I see as idiotic in American political debates. The obsession for mud-slinging. Using illegal activities of single members, that are not even party related, to denounce the whole group.

Yes, I admit it's a quick, cheap laugh to make fun of bigots who sit on the high moral horse, when they are caught in a public toilet, or "tough on crime" guys who are criminals by themselves.

However it's the same logic by which ethnic groups are denounced: one represents them all. People seem to be relieved when they find a stereotype that represents their thinking of the group: "See, I've always said so: All ____ are bastards!"

You are absolutely correct in your assessment.
