Dictators do that all the time even to a much worse extent, no big deal. Only that hers was caught on film and aired on tv.

Now is the age of lying, stealing, cheating and murder. These things are now commonplace and should now be tolerable. Besides I heard might makes it right. The action holds more resemblance than most people would think. But most people do not know what dictators are like so they assume they are somehow grand.

But no grand person would become one as much as no great person would steal a baseball from a child's hand. There is nothing grand or great in any dictator. In fact they are one because they are often a much worse person able to go lower than his adversaries.

The world has always been that way. They seem more commonplace because we also have more people with more freedom and better educations. But make no mistake, there have always been people like this.

This. People always tend to think they live in some special age, that things are going downhill rapidly, and that the end may be near (figuratively speaking that is).
There's nothing special about the age we live in. People aren't doing more robbing, stealing or lying then they have the past couple of centuries. We just hear more about it. Please quit the drama, we're nothing special.
