But of course you are right What I meant is that we are SURE that under OUR earthly conditions the universe "can" produce life, so it si logic to think that other planets with same conditions "could" also have the same style of life as ours. Of course that does not exclude -quite the opposite- a differently structured life.

I personally think it would be rather disappointing if the universe outside our solar system would consist of nothing more than rocks, space and gasses (and some) and no other life forms (in there or wherever), including intelligent life forms, but then again: maybe it's just that. Dunno.
