This Skyraider's not WWII, but sure looks like she could be! One of my favourite planes ever, too

A very cool desert Hurri

Warhawk

Oh, and here come the flying Harvards!

Lysander

And this is not WWII, but ain't it just extremely cool to see these in flying shape (even if replicas)?

And this last one is apparently not a replica but an original 1-1/2 Strutter (albeit heavily restored)!

Nothing quite as cool as seeing this in the air... (sorry for the blurry quality!)

Almost an unreal sight!

Good catch Steve! Didn't know she was actually flying before WWII ended, I actually thought that happened later.

So yes, I spent the weekend groping planes of all ages

From this...

To this...

To this!

Very happy needless to say

More pics including flying ones coming later, need to retrieve them from another camera!

Wow, George, That was one heck of a show!

Those WW1 aircraft look so small, don't they? Beautiful though.

Some great shots there and some great aircraft. I have a real soft spot for the USN carrier aircraft. The Wildcat and Helldiver in particular.

Great shots George! The Lancaster looks to be the same I have seen. She is menacing to say the least. The Helldiver is the one that attends WW2 Weekend. The Warhawk is beautiful! I love the WW1 bird shots. Gives you an idea how far aircraft engineering has come. Your show is a lot like mine. Hands on! Get right up to the aircraft and count the rivets if you want. I have not seen a PBY or Hurricane operate. That must have been a special treat. Now, with all that hair on your head I recommend the open cockpit Sopwith for you. Looks to have been a great show! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the great pictures!
Those shots have some great angles and reveal some cool details of the planes!

That's because actually she is. First test flight was March 18, 1945 and first deliveries began in December 1946. While the plane didn't see service until after the war, she was designed and tested in that timeframe, which makes her very much part of the era.

Nah, it's okay, we've nowhere to put it.

That Corsair put on an awesome show, too. I was really impressed with how much power that thing has for a WWII plane - climbed like it weighed nothing.

Two Corsairs chasing a Japanese bomber at our WW2 Weekend.

And yes, some of these aircraft are pure power. It must be a thrill to fly one.

Very nice!

Not my video obviously, but a great summary of the flying action on the same day as I was there (shot from pretty close to where I was camped out, too)

Looked like a fantastic show and a great day George. I love going to WW2 Weekend. Just a lot of fun. The best part is the pilots/aircraft owners love to share their toys. Everyone I have spoken with is always super friendly and love to show the plane. The videos are great but do little justice to the sound these open pipe engines make. They thunder by on the deck making quite a sound! I wish I could have seen the Lancaster operate when she was at our show. She is a neat aircraft.
