I should have probably gotten the picture first.
That woud be my fault. ![]() It's not that I don't welcome using it, it's just that wanted to know the reason as to why the game would consider map contacts as realistic. So far, I just use the reason that my watch officer find the range of the ships and I use that to get its path and find the angle at bow with it, as well as the speed. I just wanted to know if there was another reason or that the reason given is acceptable... Oh and thanks for reminding to get the picture.

Navigation maps were regularly updated with contacts from a variety of sources Bdu, Spies, Condors, U-boats etc.). You will notice that the contact only remains visible for a short period of time meaning you have to 'plot' your own course and interception. You can go to the other end of the spectrum if you wish and download my SpySat mod, this will regularly update your map with most of whatever is in the SH3/GWX world but be warned, it is a game killer for those who prefer as much realism as possible. When we developed GWX we tried to get a mix/blend of historical accuracy and gameplay immersion....add to that the mods that are contained within and I'd like to think we did a pretty fair job in catering for most peoples tastes. GWX is now something like four years old but given the amount of mods created by some really innovative modders since then I honestly believe SH3 as an 'old' game, coupled with GWX and other supermods such as NYGM etc. has stood the test of time and given value for money to the subsimming community. SINK EM ALL!! |

If you're snorkelling and you do not have Map Contacts enabled, aircraft will never appear on the map screen. The first sign of them will be taking damage when you are hit by rockets or depth charges. You cannot solely depend on your mast-mounted radar detectors since a number of airborne attackers are not equipped with radar.
