The saving grace is that he brought her friends and family. In other words he was pretty sure she was going to say YES.

Kids don't do this with your girlfriend.
Did they get married during that video? I only watched up to the part when she said Yes. That was enough for me. Actually I thought it was quite good how he set it up, but yeah kids ask your parents first.

Personally I always have felt that a very public proposal is some what forceful like you lack the confidence so your sort of forcing the issue putting her on the spot doing it
a public setting obviously having spent money it puts an extra pressure on if you sit and think about it.

I think a true honest man confident in himself in his feelings would do a proposal privately. At the same time knowing my wife's personality if she did not want
to marry me she would have said so no matter what the situation was.She is the type that if the baby is ugly she is gonna tell the parents that its ugly I know because
of this that if my wife is still around I have not driven her nuts yet or she has much patience not that I am a bad person or abusive I just have a very complex personality.
(I suppose most people do to some extent) But a woman with a very sensitive or overly caring personality(not wishing to hurt ones feelings) this type of woman could feel pressured in a very public proposal by the desire not to want to upset the man asking.

I guess that is why so many marriages fail if both people are not fully committed its not going to last. Some people are in it from the start others grow into it.

A friend of mine chose to do a very public proposal to his fiancee, and I thought it was actually quite appropriate. It was in front of about 250 people, most of them strangers. Quite a response from the audience, and honestly, as much as his girlfriend was scared and driven to tears by being put on the spot, I think she knew that it was just his style - he's a big-hearted, company sort of guy who's great at making a goof of himself in front of a lot of people. He paid more than I make in a year for the ring, too. Made a video for her and presented it all very theatrically. It'd be weird for him to go another way. So she said yes of course and they're getting married either late this year or next year

Like I said it depends on the woman's personality one with weaker will would feel pressure a stronger willed woman would not or she might say yes in front of everyone and recant later heard of this happening many times not saying this is going to be the case with your friends.

In the end at least for me proposing and the vows all that jazz that was the easy part to say the least six seven months later after you have you first few disagreements then it is real.

This reminds me some years back some guy in NYC lost the engagement ring when he was about to propose so he had to hold off and find it.He figured that he had some how tossed it in the trash by accident of course it was trash day so this dude went to the damn depot for the garbage trucks and searched each one that had yet to be dumped I think it took him a day or two the trash guys where nice enough to leave a pile on the side for him to go through seeing as they could not just leave full trucks waiting to be searched. In the end the guy found the engagement ring and the woman did said yes she must have had little doubt if the man had just gone though several tons of trash to find it he must have really meant it most of that proposal was free and unplanned but it got the point across.

As long as you dont point a gun to her head(or your head) I guess it does not really matter.

Yes he did it was a marriage.

I do feel in general that public proposal is a forceful and cowardly way of proposing.

However in that video she was clearly in love with him.

I saw a film on TV not too long ago, the guy was purposing to his sweetheart on the field at a football(hand egg) stadium. He ask and she just screamed and ran off the field and out of the stadium.

Sometimes it just doesn't work.

One of my older cousins he was this girl for a good while and he proposed to her privately she turned him down which really burned him because it seemed pretty clear she was wanting to get married. The down side to a more public proposal is if she says no you get burned in front of people(or if she recants a few days later) that is worse than if it was private.

I think public proposals are kind of trendy right now but I am betting that in some cases it may have been agreed to privately before hand and it is some what a show in some cases.

Some years back I had a boss who was bipolar, I sense something was wrong but just thought he was having a bad day he always acted erratically changing his mind every 10min then get upset that he made changes, cursing one minute then timid the next!, It didn't help that my desk was right behind his so I never missed one of his psychotic episodes, some days were good but you never knew how your day was going to end, he was harmless to us staff it was more he was harming himself or more fighting the demons in his head 24/7. I was new to the job so the staff knew what was wrong with him. It had its funny moments I would catch him many times reading marvel comics online he was a big fan of them and his topics were on portals and what would you do if you found one would you step right in and leave this horrible world, type of conversations. Then one day he just came out and told me he suffers from bipolar. I wasn't at all surprise.

Ugh glad to know he finally knew in the end. The positive is at least he wasn't psychopathic

Should be:

That was classic!

Here is a hint. When you propose, you should already know what your partner will say.
