The Republicans certainly have no monopoly on dumb VP's. Joe Biden? Al Gore? The thought of either one in the oval office scares the heck out of me.

Oh, I'm not trying to say the Democrats don't make mistakes in their VP picks; hell, they've made mistakes in their Presidential picks, e.g., Dukakis, McGovern. Political stupidity knows no party...

True. But the thing is the Veep is really nothing more than an insurance policy, ostensibly in case the President is incapacitated but lately it seems they are chosen more as a presidents hedge to stay in office!

Well in last elections if I had been american and there would have not been Palin... I most likely would have voted John McCain. Yes. I admit I would have voted Republican. I hate GOP mainly because Mr. Bush but also because their rhetoric sometimes sounds far too similar with religious nuts.

Problem with this kind of "hedge" is that it sometimes scares of voters. Personally because Mr. McCain's advanced age I thought that risk of getting Palin as president was too high.

Ofcouse as I'm not american all above is more or less irrelevant.
