Default Default reaction when spotting planes, ships, how to change?

A couple or three careers ago, I accidentally hit "Periscope depth" as the default when spotting warships.

I thought it would last for that career, but it seems to have embedded itself. How can I switch it off?

Go to options, then hit "reset default action."

As far as I can see, that is not an option.

Under "options" I can change only video and sound settings. Or am I looking under the wrong "options"?

Ya, you want the 'in-game options.' When you're on patrol press Esc -> Options ->Reset default action.

Thank you! Wouldn't have occurred to me to look there in, oh, say 100 years.

Yeah, it took me a few months to figure it out. Sorry for being somewhat unclear.

I don't think I ever figured it out. A very long time ago someone else explained it to me as well.

In-game. Hit Esc, just like when you're saving the game. Reset Default Actions is in that screen.
