Steve! You of all people should know Metal has nothing to do with screaming!

You're right about it not being metal though, but for the wrong reasons.
The bass is not heavy enough, the main riff is slightly high-pitched (not a reason on itself) and has too much of a hard rock feeling, the guitar just misses this thickness required for metal, the distortion could be in a different setting to get it a bit "warmer", and the drums are too slow.
(These aren't bad things, they're just reasons why it isn't metal)

Very good song, and I really mean that. But it isn't metal (I don't think you wanted it to be metal per se anyway)
