Thank you gentlemen...
I've only got 1mb RAM, so that could be the problem. However, it worked OK (or I managed to get away with it) using the old motherboard. I'll invest in some extra RAM.
I'll also (as Jimbuna suggests) do a Registry Scan and carefully clean out any corrupt entries. Your advice very much appreciated. Thank you
