Gregory Peck should've been on my list, I'll watch him in anything.

I didn't even get into the Brit stage-trained lot (aside from O'Toole, I guess).

Brando's cool and certainly gave some great performances but I'm not sure I'd watch an otherwise mediocre production just to see him do his stuff.

and

Bullitt and The Italian Job (the 1969 version, of course) are two mainstays in my movie collection.
I have Le Mans, The Sand Pebbles, Victory, and Play Dirty as well.

Sledgehammer, you've got one of my favorites there in Steve McQueen.
He could say more with facial expressions than most actors could with a whole page of dialogue.

Paul Newman, George C. Scot and Boggie also make my list.

I forgot David Carradine.
He could make reading a telephone book sound simply awesome!

Boys From Brazil.

Hearing Peck say that line made my whole year.

Oh, there's nothing quite as jarring (or fun) as seeing Gregory Peck play Josef Mengele.

"Oh look it's Atticus Fin-WAIT WHAT IS HE DOING ATTICUS NOOOO!!!"

It's hard to say what my favorites are, since I don't watch many movies anymore, but here goes:

John Wayne (especially liked 'True Grit')
Steve McQueen ('Hell is for Heroes')

Also liked:

Michael Caine (watched 'Play Dirty' and 'The Ipcress File' recently)
(also 'Funeral in Berlin' is a must see)
Clint Eastwood (many westerns)
Burt Lancaster ('The Train' and 'The Scalphunters')
Jimmy Stewert ('Flight of the Pheonix')

Guess

but seriously, it's hard for me to pick one favorite actor... but if I had to, I'd say Clint Eastwood. Michael Caine has a good movie or two as well

I like your taste. Zulu is a classic.

Dang! A couple of my little-known favorites too!

And Strategic Air Command. How is it you know all my favorites?

Probably a generational thing.

(Should have mentioned 'Zulu' too; very good)

I'm not too familier with the actors, besides Van Johnson, but 'Battleground' deserves mention here.
