Default save game crash

I have a weird save game crash. I made a point to be alone, no ships around, and on the surface. When it loads, it get's past "Not so long ago...", the UI shows up and I can faintly see the inside of the sub before it goes.

I didn't make any changes to the game between this save and the last. The crash report says the Fault Module is "StackHash_71b2", whatever that means.

The odd thing is that on the loading screen, where it normally has the orders and list of things that happened on certain days (from WBNN I think), the very last entry has the title of my save game right before the one I'm loading in it. Where it's supposed to say "3 Sep: such and such happened)" it says "3 Sep3rd". (The savegame is named 3rd, as in third patrol.) How the heck did that get there?

That's a known issue, I think it has to do with the character limit of that feature, if the "news" is too lengthy it just cuts off at the limit and appends the savegame info. It shouldn't have anything to do with your saved game crashing.

Not really on topic but there is a new version of the "news" mod from WB that gets used with Commander IIRC, all the monthly new reports are fixed so this issue isn't an issue any more.

This may help you understand a little more:

It's called WB's Warning Orders:

But... warning orders was a part of WB News Network. It had two folders in the rar, WBNN Mission Orders and WBNN Warning Orders. The Mission one went into JSGME and the Warning one had a file called "Menu variable_en.txt" that I pasted into someplace in Commander's folders. It's what put the "3 September:" etc. stuff in there to begin with. Or is this a new version?

There has been no update of his mod as far as I am aware.

I'm referring to this,

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=146

which is not actually a recent update (looks to be about a year old now). But it's what I've been using lately and it does rework the monthly "news" blurbs that appear on the memo in your loading screen, making them more concise.

It's set up to be enabled in Commander, replacing the existing 'Menu variable_en.txt' and since I started using it I haven't noticed the savegame info abruptly appearing in the newsblurbs in the loading screen... but maybe I just haven't been playing enough to notice.

You're welcome, I didn't realize it was a year old but I knew it was newer to me than what I'd been using previously. And it did make a difference in that "news memo" in the loading screen.

I don't know why, but that mediafire site with all the WB mods you linked raised a huge red flag with my AVG antivirus.

Specifically,
"Danger: Surf-Shield has detected active threats on this page and has blocked access for your protection.
...
URL: retailinfoall.com/QQkFBwQEBg0HBQwEEkcJBQcEBwANBwcFBQ==
Name: Blackhole Exploit Kit"

IDK if it's something somebody should be made aware of. It threw it up when I went to DL "WB's SH3 Cmdr Mod" (just to see what it was).

Can you post a specific URL that gave you that alert? Because I use AVG and I've never had it give me a problem when downloading any of WB's stuff.

It was when I was downloading the file here: http://www.mediafire.com/?maz250mfmm2

But frankly I don't know if it was from that page, from clicking on the download link itself, or what. Hell maybe it's just me that's infected. I'm scanning everything possible now just in case.

I loaded that page and didn't get any AVG alerts... but I use In Private Filtering (in IE8) to block a lot of ad content. Maybe there's an ad there that's being piped in from a dodgy source.

Scans clean for me as well...

Seems unlikely mediafire would have suspect code, unless of course it was a one-off third party add.

wait so do you go and drop a certain file in the commander folder or something for this to work?
