I don't have a "favourite band" right now-I do like Muse and Iron Maiden, never heard of Coroner and Helloween til right now (will have to give a listen after work thanks Feuer Frei)-but right now have been listening to a lot of old French standards-Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet in a compilation I bought and yes it includes that song from Das Boot: "J'attenderai" by Rina Ketty.

I don't switch my favourite bands easily and tend to be pretty consistent with my tastes. It has been and remains King Crimson for me since I was 17. Before that, it was Queen.
However it sure gets interesting when you get into my top 10, 20, 50 or even 100 favourite bands, but that's too many to discuss for this thread ![]() |

Right now i´m the folk mood: Dervish, Dubliners and such.
But my all time favourite was, is and will be: Blind Guardian since i was 20. Loved the way they co-designed the game Sacred2 with sounds and a great ingame concert.

A 3-pice band which just kicks arse, in a big way. Helloween, well, these guys have been around also for a long time. Helloween is a power metal band from Germany, founded in the mid 80's. They are pioneers in their field. If you need any directions with any of these 2 bands let me know; i'll link you some great stuff. Both of thse bands i have followed since day dot. |

Helloween... heard them first time on an old tape from my uncle. Along with Metallica and Sisters of Mercy. Result was long hair style for over ten years

@joea
Ok, i'll start with Coroner: They officially disbanded in 1994, however they are still listed by wiki as current. And that is because they had a reunion tour as recent as 2010 at France's Hellfest. However, nothing has been heard since from them. They only released 5 studio albums, with Mental Vortex and Grin the last 2. Let's take you back to 1988, with the song Masked Jackal, from the album Punishment for Decadence: next on the list is: I want you (she's so heavy) the Beatles cover song, man these guys nail it! Big Time, love this rendition: Now we fast-forward to 1991 from the album Mental Vortex, with a song called Sirens: True class, and for a 3 piece they put out a heavy heavy sound. Onto the album Grin, which was their last in 1993, Paralyzed, Msmerised from Grin: and one of my faves of theirs: Caveat (to the coming): As i'm sure you'll agree they have a very distinct sound, and i'll leave you to digest this offering until i introduce you to Helloween. Happy listening. |
