I remember watching the Computer Chronicles a computer technology programme that was broadcast in the USA some years back. In one of the episodes I recall a senior figure in a data storage company saying that he would be surprised if the 5.25" floppy was surpassed by any better storage media!

Back on topic, I have 688 Attack Sub on my trusty Amiga.

Now he's well-versed in, "Would you like fries with that?"

Man, if there's anything I learned growing up with my Dad in the 70's & 80's, it's that you just don't make technology predictions. I remember conversations with him in the early 80's about VR (hook up to a computer and trick your brain into actually being in the game), Y2K (clock will go to zero, then start over again), and portable computers that were more powerful than the mainframes then in use (which nicely describes the laptop I'm using to post this).

Of course, I also learned other answers from him, too, most notably, "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you." (Just so happens, he was right on that one, too. How was I to know Dad had a security clearance?)
