Footage on BBC News shows it to be a Lakenheath bird 91-0304 both Crew ejected and are ok.
Both the aircrew are with the rebels but the problem is....how to recover or destroy the sensitive kit on board? Either way...how can it be done...Special Forces or bombing from the air? |

I recall a few F-15Es were also shot down by surface fire during the Gulf War.

I've read that myself somewhere but never looked further into it....and this bugga surely has come down but probably due to mechanical failure.
I'm just pleased both aircrew are okay and haven't been killed. |

Looking at the pics, there doesn't appear to be much sensitive equipment left at all!

Prolly right but scavengers have been known to come across the odd golden nugget before.

I was mechanical failure from what I heard.

This kind of situation is virtually guaranteed with this (misguided, IMHO) effort. We all know what happens when you get captured by hostile muslims... decapitation, etc. As a result any rescue forces are going to go balls-out to rescue pilots. This unfortunate result is inevitable, particularly given the irregular nature of the forces on both sides.

I agree, HB makes a good point, I'm just saying that it should have been anticipated. It's lose-lose. The next time they will hold fire, and the locals will be irregular mercenaries on the other side, and we'll get internet videos of the murder of the pilots.

Or is it just a crazy over generalisation mixing fiction fiction and fact with a bit more fiction and some more fiction for good measure. Quote:

How many pilots, troops (US, and local) and contractors—or even just civilians helping eliminate IEDs on their own blocks—have been found beheaded, or get murdered, or are dragged (dead) through the streets for every Lynch? 100? 1000? More? (mostly Iraqi and Afghani) How many of the willing participants in such beheadings were arrested and charged by their own forces for criminal action? Zero. Quote:
The current debacle with the "trophy" pictures is exactly on point. Do that in the US military, and you get sent to jail. Do it for Allah? You're a muhajadin.

Your point about crime and punishment falls flat also, just look at the difficulty in even getting charges let alone convictions in the States of former Yugoslavia. Even your schools line fails ![]() |

I feel the same way about all religions, actually. Among the 3 "great" monotheisms, however, Islam is clearly the most regressive, repressive, and violent. By far. It is the worst of everything that crappiest "fundies" are in Christianity—the major sects (comprising the vast majority of Muslims) are all literalist sects. Their accepted doctrine (what they think of the various hadiths, etc) is well known, and universally "bad." The few sects that are not fundies are a tiny minority of Muslims, and universally hated by all the others (even as they hate each other). Islam is not a "race," it is a voluntarily held set of beliefs. Anyone holding that set of beliefs is, IMO, and idiot, and possibly a dangerous idiot at that. Note that the "idiot" part I assign to ANY scriptural literalist regardless of flavor.
