.*. Ahoy the Ship. Having just completed a recon of the Gilberts I was ordered to assist in the Guadalcanal campaign. I decieded to patrol the Slot in and around the 3rd Oct '42. I'm just wondering if anyone of you skippers have had any sucess in targeting the 32 Knot fast movers on the Rat Run. Haven't hit one yet!.*.

They're certainly tough. You are in a good spot for the coming year though. If your running RSRD there will be lots of historic battles and convoys in the coming months.

The trick is to already be ahead of them. In RL, the sub skippers usually didn't know where they would be. We have the unique advantage of researching a specific historical date and then placing ourselves in the vicinity of their expected paths. Still, there will be some element of chance involved but there are some pretty accurate battle maps floating about on-line.
