I've managed to get it working this time. Anyone who wants to download, extract and then finally convert it has a long wait ahead of them.

Ok I need some help. Downloaded the old map and I thought everything is fine. Everything looked like it was in the right position, I spawned at the proper spawn. But when I get a cerain distance from the spawn my FPS drops too 0! Then it is unplayable due to the extreme lag. I set up a server and played the map through that but there apeared to be a map shift and some peoples projects are mixed into someone else's.

Anyway is anyone else having this problem in single player with this map or any other?

I used a cartography program on the map and for some reason there are these weird chunk lines from east to west going all the way up the length of the map. I can't cross the highlighted areas without my FPS hitting 0. Funny thing is if I back out of these zones, my FPS returns to normal.

That is pre-beta 1.3 problem, no idea what causes it, but someone mentioned it and showed a screenshot similar to that to Notch in some livestream.

Is that really the subsim world? I don't recognise it. I know I've been absent there for the past few weeks, since Beta 1.3 or so. But it can't have changed that much.

p.s. Did you check if the carthography program has been updated to the new chunk-format?

Strange thing is I can't get any where near those odd chunks without my FPS dropping to zero, but I can move about in it in multiplayer. Even weirder is the places that seem to have dissapeared in those chunks have actually been moved to other chubks sometimes on the other side of the map!

Its the latest cartography program available. Its worked on other maps with out no problems, but this is the largest map its ever done. With some mapping modes it crashes because my computer can't handle it.

Also you know we could never figure out why there was so much lag towards the end of this map and some of us thought it might be a large forest fire we couldn't find? Well I think I found it.

Well, after some thinking, I've reclaimed my place.

I went there earlier today, and no one seems to have been there.

So I'll try and make something out of it.

Just swapped out the router (faster internet, yay!), so I'll need to tinker with it a bit to set up the proper ports and such. Server will be unreachable for a bit.
