Over 800 captive pirates? Why capture them in the first place? Once they are taken prisoner, it leads to legal complications; if they are killed at sea, no problems.

Reminds me of something I read in an interview of an Spetznas who was deployed to Afghanistan in the 80s.

[out of memory]
-Did you see any POWs being executed?
-THERE WAS NO EXECUTIONS! Sometimes there just simply were no survivors.
