Fun to read this thread as a new player. I haven't played much yet, but I really like the idea of immersion, and what better way than getting it directly from your boat!

Edward Tufte, for those of you familiar with him, would really like this approach. After all, any experience is about the content, not the interface to that content. The more the interface can be removed, the more the content will stand or fall on its own merits.
