I've encountered other u-boats in open waters and they too have all the stations maned as well. |

There are RN subs patrolling the Bay of Biscay. I've encountered a few of them. I usually just sink em with a torpedo, as I've heard they're a real pain to sink with the deck gun.

The only British subs I've seen are escorts or in Lerwick. I've never engaged the escorts and the harbored boats are a pain to sink.
I've encountered and engaged American Gato-class submarines twice. Both times, they were heading south somewhat near the US coast. One was sunk from a distance (guess how). The other I gave up due to very poor weather and a lack of shells; I only knew he was there because of my RADAR detector. It's not uncommon to see a friendly boat in the Bay of Biscay. VIIC's are most often in the U-FlaK config when it's available. I've encountered one a good distance into the mid-Atlantic. And much to my annoyance, friendlies have disrupted convoy attacks on multiple occasions.

I have encountered British subs off the coast of Norway, as well as the other areas already mentioned.

I sighted a VIIC once and shouted "It's Thomsen! Thomsen!" IIRC it was west of Lorient.
I've encountered more S class subs in convoy than existed at the time. ![]() |

Harbour raid in (I think) Harwich early years saw me face to face with a couple of them. They seemed extremely passive until I hit one with an eel, then they brought their guns to the party with extreme accuracy - It's relatively shallow and I couldn't go deep! Luckily after I'd fired the torpedoes I'd turned around expecting as much.
![]() I've yet to bump into one in the open that wasn't part of a convoy.

I've not seen any british ones but have passed a few u-boats moored in lorient on the outer parts of the docks. would have been cool to see one nestling in one of the pens.
That was in my last career piloting a IXB. |

Alright, either I'm not insane or that means two of us are and everyone else is normal.
