 Not only will you find the best mods for the SH game series, but you'll also find the most helpful people anywhere. Take a look around the boards and ask lots of questions. We like people to get involved. I could recommend several supermods, and an unbelievable host of other mods as well, but I'll do that on the SH3 boards, not here.
