Did the image in that post come through? Looks AWOL.

Also, the boat allegedly still in service in the ROC Navy is ex-Cutlass: Hai Shih is currently the oldest and longest serving submarine in the world at just short of 66 years.

I think Tim's Calverts boat USS Diablo was also a boat sold to Turks. The Diablo apparenty sunk though or was cut up. I will have to ask Tim next time I see him.

The picture I can not see.

YES...ELECTRIC BLUE ENGINES!!! I SO WANTED TO GET MY DISCO PANTS AND HAIRCUT.

I remember that Torsk work weekend. We had a list of items to do in the engine rooms. Tim said go get this gray paint and brushes. We tossed the list. Painting began. By the end of the day the Fairbanks were the gray they were originally painted. What fun!

Sorry about that. As soon as I posted it I saw that Growler had fixed his pic.

Just in case:

Oh, how I wish I was a fly on the wall that day. That picture up there is from the Turkish Tench, but when I saw it, I immediately thought of those blue, blue diesels.

USS Tusk SS 426 is the other

USS Thornback SS-418 was in service with the Navy of Turkey up until 2000 and Trutta SS 421 till 1999

USS Sea Leopard SS 483 served with the Brazilan Navy untill 1993

And I assume most around here know the USS Catfish SS-339 saw combat as the ARA Santa Fe S-21 in 1982

Did anyone point out that they missed that little bit in front of the anchor?

I'm just amazed at how long some of these old boats lasted. I wonder what the folks that built them and sailed against the IJN in them would have thought if they had known.
