As much as I truly loathe the shark's teeth on the boat - and I do, truly, loathe them - if it's gonna bring in a few bucks that wouldn't otherwise be there to help keep her from becoming a reef, I reckon I can live with 'em.

Absolutely Growler. You know as well as I as we stood there on the deck watching, these teeth attrack the young kids who want to see 'the shark' boat. I can live with them just as long as they get a fresh coat of paint every year. ![]()

I see your point. I'd rather see her with the teeth than see her scrapped. But I still think it's wrong. These boats shouldn't need a gimmick to bring people in.

The good thing is, for those who care to know, it's a short answer to their question: No, those wouldn't have been on the boat in service - they're there because Baltimore wanted to bring people to the boat. The ones who care understand - and I've garnered more than a few donations from people who do so in the hopes that their dollars will go to painting over the shark. The folks who don't get it, probably never will.

Urgh - this looks expensive!
![]() But glad to see there's an opportunity to donate! http://www.usstorsk.org/donations/donations.htm Wasn't the shark teeth used on (a) war patrol? Or am I messing things up? |

Neat pictures! last Fleet boat I ever saw was the Drum, while it was still in the water back in 93.
