My point was that the US F-5 and the Chinese export F-5 could be mistaken by someone who did not know they were two very different aircraft and just assumed that one F-5 was the same as another.

Yeah, saw those; I was referring to the actual style and cut of the uniforms as not being American, and reinforcing the idea that the "shield logo thingie" was a "sort of" American-looking, well, shield-logo-thingie, but was located where the flag would have been if it were an American uniform.
