Er from what I gathered as this unfolded that's the point: copyright infringement of the name. It's nothing about quality of the mod or something like that.

Well the guy does deserve credit for getting Activison all up in arms over a bloody youtube video.

I mean, they could have sent him a letter asking for a name-change on the project, instead of cracking open a tin of lawyers and threatening the poor bugger with all kinds of lawsuits.

Weee bit of a knee-jerk reaction there (or just a jerky reaction).

Actually, the guy making it choose a name that was just asking for trouble (clear copyright infringement) and got slapped with lawsuits, which were dismissed shortly after the situation was cleared up. The mod is continuing development under a new title, and Riot Games (League of Legends) offered the guy a job.

Oh, and it was a preview-trailer posted on YT that triggered it, the mod itself came under discusion a bit later on, to make sure it was dependant on SC2 rather than a stand-alone product (if it was standalone, it would be more copyright infringement, considering the art resources used and the lore it builds upon).

tl;dr: No.
