The sailor has been ID'd.

OS2 (SW) Dominique D. Cruz, U.S. Navy

She was a 26-year old Operations Specialist from Panama City, Florida. Enlisted in the USN in June of 2006 and already made E-5. Looked like she had a promising career ahead of her; probably and easily could've made Chief.

Actually you can make E-5 in a minimum of 3 years if you pass your E-4 and E-5 test first time up. Advancement through the lower rates is quick until you reach E-5 then it slows way down. Still, of all ways to go that would have to be the worst I'd say.

Oh yeah, I forgot; the Navy's changed. People are making Chief in nine years now; back in the day it took almost twice that amount of time.
