Well, that explains it. Our society has this odd, cultural fetish with children. Anything that puts a dent in child safety, self esteem, or might somehow shatter their virgin ears is stringently frowned upon.

Hmm, I checked out that site and this is all I found out about the Netherlands:

First of all, the first citation is wrong, it's actually technically still illegal though it simply isn't enforced.
Second, what the heck, what's so dumb about these laws?
