No problem, it's easy to get wrong sometimes, which I have noticed recently in four words story ... and it may just be a slump from your side, but I hope to completely different results here, bottom time is not past ...... yet

Your PC specs bookworm kicks my computers ass, I brought mine over christmasl just the box minus the monitor/accessories, but it runs brilliantly. The company here I brought it off Coretech-broker been in the business for 26yrs and are mainly based on server technology. So the pc arrived as one huge server case that weights a ton plenty of room for future upgrades

Plays SH5 & Mass effect 2 with everything on high smooth as, . Only slight problem I had is the 9800GT/case fans were quite loud, found the settings in bios to turn the fans down to quiet mode it was set to Server in the bios so that quieten it a bit.

Basics specs: Dual core @ 5.1ghz, 4gb Ram, 9800GT, 3 drives, COA windows XP pro - might upgrade to Win 7 later on

Nice one Bookworm, you should be set for some good gaming years ahead. I just wish somebody had forgotten to give me a large amount of cash

Just wondering though, what was the spec of your old PC?

It was an old Dell Optiplex GX270 (second hand). What follows was as far as I could take it spec wise.....

Pentium 4 3.0Ghz processor

2 Gb RAM

Geforce 6200 512 Mb graphics card

DVD-Rom drive

I've got SH4 working and well as the original Call of Duty (it went without any problems!) SH3 is still down at the moment, but I'm starting work on it to bring it to life.

P.S. If the games seem a bit old and not all that up to date, it was what the old computer could run ok without falling over dead from a heart attack....

Frank I'm worried that server mode may not make the GPU fan to run as fast as it is in the normal mode.

Since you are using Windows 7 there's free gadget to monitor GPU temperature. Wouldn't want to fry the GPU would you. Get the one which needs no other software to run. It's able to monitor fan speed too.

Well I'm never excited about SH5 no offense just personal taste. But get yourself Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age(or wait for Dragon Age 2) if RPG is your thing. Other games are Napoleon Total War series. ArmA 2+OA(combine Operation) is not bad either if army sim is your thing. Another game to look forward to is Shogun 2 Total War

I dont run Windows 7. The fans can be turn up/down in the bios or running RivaTuner app. When the Pc is idle just browsing or running apps the fan is low, when Im playing a game the fan kicks in and winds up. Its how its meant to be, its far safer to let it run how it is. The 9800GT runs this way nothing to worry about. Rightttt where's my earmuffs time to run a game...
