What speaks against intoxication via food is that one muist ask why then all the deads birds died simultaneously within a short time. Exposure to toxines only makes sense when it was a cloud of gas or popison they flew through.
And still: ornithologists say it is strange thast so many birds of these species flock togfether in one swarm outside the wandering season. The swarm being hit by thundertstorms in midair or the birds getting smitten by hail is an often mentioned theory.
