Dogs is the bestest.

Though totally unscientific empirical examination, I am convinced that dogs understand much more of our language then they are capable of responding to.

I can only hope, one day, to be the hero my dogs think I am....

We found homes for our last litter of rescued Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever puppies. Nine weeks old and they were Mooses! These guys will probably break 90 pounds. But cute as cute as puppies are.

Hopefully on Wednesday we will get a litter of five beagle mix puppies. 8 weeks old. One of them is a runt that will fit in the palm of your hand. We will have to nurse that one along.

But it is for a good cause.

That show is awesome. Can't recommend it enough. Gives one a whole new insight and appreciation for the dog. Seriously.

My wife having many and being a part time handler dogs abound at our house. My daughter is traveling the world right now with a world class pro handler.

I miss my yorkie that died. When I went out of town she would go into the dirty clothes and pick out my clothes from the rest and make a pile and sleep on them or put them in her cage and sleep. I can still see her as I pulled up the driveway jumping on the coffee table having a fit. Course at home she slept on my head. Died in my arms from an enlarged heart.

This thread has tempted me to get a German shepherd puppy. I've always liked German shepherd from the others.

We got our Husky when it was already grown so there's only little bondage between me and the dog. The bondage is there just that it's not a very obedient dog and it rarely barks at people almost never in fact and only at other dogs.

Had a small dog that we took in as puppy and it was very obedient to me. Too bad we had to give it up then.

Check out the Shiloh Shepherd Dog

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiloh_Shepherd_Dog

One of the things I don't like about the contemporary GSD is the sloping back. The Shiloh is more like the "old" GSD.

Something to consider.

If I were to get a dog it would probably be a siberian husky, but I do not see that happening any time soon, an appartment is no place to keep a dog.

Siberian Husky or a border collie or a belgian shepherd (Malinois variety)
those would be my next picks

I like the picture of him watching the airshow

As the my significant other has grown up all her life with German Shepherds (her dad does 'police training' [bite work, obedience, etc] I can imagine if we get together for good it'd probably be a German Shepherd.

However, if I had any say I'd want a Siberian Husky or a Borzoi Hound (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borzoi).
