But I must have installed something wrong with 3.10 cuz it's obviously not working correctly as it's picking the missile up as a link and not a radar contact. Tried multiple times, tried disabling the mod and reenabling.

The mod installed in some fashion as I wasn't able to detect anything outside of 10 nm before.

Maybe I'll try to reinstall or something.
Try deactivating the mod and erasing the folder for it in 'mods' then reinstall the mod. If something installed in the mod wrong then disabling and renabling it will not help.

The link issue has no relation to the mod whatsoever.

yup, you are correct. i reinstalled the mod and still the same issue. It shows up as a link and flickers with the friendly ship. So when I launch an sm-2 at the missile, it goes after the friendly ship every time. So couple questions.

1) How do i attack the incoming missile with and sm-2 without turning on show truth. This bug is 100% repeatable in this mission. Happens every time. I can counter measure at least now that i know it's coming in (which wasn't the case in stock or 3.09), but if the missile is going after a friendly ship? Either way, seems no way to attack with an sm-2 with this bug without show truth.

2) Why is it showing up as a link and not a radar contact? I have my radars on but it never shows up as a radar contact. Wouldn't radar pick it up, at least when it's close to the ship? It never switches to a radar contact.

3) I tried going into ESW and see if I can classify the link as hostile, maybe that would make a difference, but it wouldn't let me change the classification and didn't matter anyway cuz it was too late by the time esw id'd the missile.

That's all I could think of now. This game is pretty awesome, but some of these bugs seem like deal breakers. I guess i could turn on show truth when the missile gets close, shoot at it a couple times, then turn off show truth.

Or maybe the question is how to keep it from glitching? LIke i said, it's 100% repeatable glitch. Haven't had one mission yet not glitch, out of ~50 a this point.

100% repeatable? That sucks.

I guess my question is why is there a link being created in the first place on that particular mission. Those convoy ships have little navigational radars that are useless in this fight, and if memory serves me correctly the embarked helos aren't on alert status.

If the helo is airborne, it might change things to delay its takeoff a bit so that it can't link anything. Maybe try toggling REMRO if it is airborne too, or for that matter toggling surface search or maybe even Show Allies. These are all just guesses, I don't understand the bug enough to predict its behavior.

And yes, chaff can still get the job done as long as the chaff is inside the acquisition cone of the missile, so it helps if you're between the missile and the intended target. Maximum acquisition range is 80km (43nmi) so have the chaff out before it gets that close.

The ship linking contacts is none other than your own. It seems that when you play the FFG, if there are other units on your side on link, contact 1001 (Your FFG) starts moving other blue contacts around like crazy.

My first thought was that the Autocrew TMA was on the fritz, but this occurs even with it off. It occurs regardless of contact type (sub, air, etc.) and will sometimes will completely screw you over by dropping contacts as it sees fit. I had a hell of a time doing the Seikan Tunnel mission after it decided to permanently drop the active sonar contact that was the midget sub you are supposed to kill...

I'm inclined think it is not related to the LWAMI mod, but I do not remember the problem occuring with such frequency in the past. Very odd.

only thing i can think of at this point is the last 40 times i've played with 3.10, i was using time compression to get to the missile launch point from the bomber. Maybe time compression is screwing it up? I'll try a mission later this weekend without time compression.

But yeah, it's 100% repeatable. Haven't had one not make it a link yet, and radar was turned on in every mission, autocrew is off except tma.

helo's not in alert status so that won't work.

Not sure what's creating the link. If it ain't my radar, what is it then?

Again, i'll try without time compression. I really like this game, but dang.

Thx for all the help.

Don't let the bugs get you down. What I've noticed is whenever I get really annoyed with the game its because I'm playing the FFG. Even though as a platform it's fun, it seems to have more bugs than the older sub platforms from previous games. When I get angry, I just take my 688i for a cruise. And some problems are programming bugs and some things are just crappy level building. Even the scenarios which come with the game have bugs (Liberian liberation) and some of the user ones too.

Anyways, the game is great, LWAMI adds detail and challenge (=fun) and lots of user created material and levels are available so there is always something new. I'm hooked.
