Hmmm, I'm going to go for the F-14, because a) someones got to, b) Phoenix and c) It's just an awesome aircraft.
The F-18 though is a very capable bird, as is the F-16. The F-15 is good air to air but probably has found its niche in the Strike role. Otherwise, MiG-29
