As comparing SH5 to Sh3 w/ GWX or SH4/UBM/OM is unrealistic.

Compare SH3 stock to Sh5 stock and you'll see the game has much more POTENTIAL. I'm not saying this potential has been reached (no where near it), but what I'm saying is that, given the time and patience, Sh5 will be one of the greatest WW2 U-boat subsims of all time (if not the last )

Give it time, like you had to with its great predecessors, and you won't be disappointed.

Edit: And for all you people who say you don't support companies who give you unfinished games and leave them to be supported by unpaid modders.. Ahem, isn't buying/paying/supporting/whatever, Sh3 and 4 the EXACT SAME THING, considering they are from the same company, and came out in the same half arsed attempt when they were released?

I don't hate SH5, nor do I hate Ubisoft for releasing poorly made software. The recent Call of Duty release proved they're not the only ones who put accountants in charge of technical projects. We should remember that this is all just opinion and not irrefutable fact. Well, the SH5 engine undoubtedly kicks the ass of previous releases, that's a fact. The rest is opinion.

In most peoples opinion, the interface in SH5 is a pain in the ass. Mods help, but I couldn't find one that did all the fixes on all the screens without problems. Maybe later on when mods are all integrated, but not right now.

I doubt it will get any cheaper as far as price.
Until the 'SH3 Series UnObTanium' comes out.

That's the one that gets you Every version ever released.

Watch for it on TV's Paid Commercials Crap.

I played SH5 for only 30 minutes when it was new and fresh. Just 2 weeks ago I picked it up again, pimped it with great Mods and now I like it.

Hi Wraith,

The mod provided the 3 dials that we're used to from previous versions (great), but when I hover over one and move to the side to press it, it activates the other dial next to it which then expands also. The other I can remember while using a TDC mod was an instant crash to desktop which is a known issue with the crew management I believe. Much like SH3. There were a couple more issues that irked me, but I dont think it was programming so much as lack of features I was expecting.

I think what's really hurting SH5 most right now is that lack of the megamod, one where the player just has to run one tried and tested install instead of managing 30 or so updates which may or may not be mutually exclusive and need updating individually. For instance I had just installed Sobers ultimate wave mod, then he released a new version of it the next day. I asked for a list of mods that people recommended, and the lists were huge!

Thing is. It´s 2010 and a multimillionarie company like Ubisoft releases products that shouldn´t even been comparable to what a team of unpaid, yet dedicated, modders did a couple of years ago. Never the less, we come to the conclusion that SH3/GWX3 is so good that a stock-game (Silent Hunter 5) can´t be compared with it. It´s embarrasing for the market. We must have higher demands than this.

I don´t say that SH5 hasn´t potential, i see it, but it demanded MASSIVE modding. Which isn´t what it´s suppose to be in 2010.

I understand what you are saying that in this day and age, the product should have been finished. But look at some of Ubisoft's present releases, as well as the rest of the SH series from when they took over and it's the same story. Over and over again.

Also, on the note that SH5 demands MASSIVE modding. Check out Sh3, and 4. 3 has almost reached its highest potential (some might say it has with GWX) and SH4 has, in my opinion not reached its full potential. How many mods do these releases have? How many are fix-its? How many actually improve gameplay and add new features. To me, Sh5 is still getting through the fix-it stage (which yes I agree that this stage should be fulfilled by beta testing and by the producers). We've still got a long way to go before Sh5 becomes comparable to a GWX Sh3/SH4UBM+OM, but by God, when it does get to that level, watch out. It's gonna be one hell of a sim.
