He's either after autonomously firing torpedoes or a hard core team where everthing's on max realism settings only.

I assume the latter. Of course, there are WaW members who play on 100% realism setttings. No one's out to stop them.

Dog-gone-it! I was miss-informed......I thought WAW only played at 100% (I sputter along in the 50% area!)....perhaps after the "Brothers Brendle" (named after two uncles) carreers are over I will re-think joining. I am running the two carreers from different ports and different sub types, trying to keep them evenly time framed and seeing the differences....one I have more aggressive, the other more calculating......

...roger that, AL. I was just trying to draw him out so we could assist. W@W has it all...it's up to the individual.

BTW, could the original poster or a moderator please correct the thread title?

It should read "Wolves At War" - not "of".

This is the only setting that is optional, however it does not take away from the campaign or realism. I am currently redoing some of the wiki site to explain some of these things, as well as regrouping the site.

I think it would be a nice touch to give a patrol start date to U-boat when you are giving a new grid assignment.

Something like this:

BOAT
U469

GRID
BE99

DATE OF DEPARTURE
1/1/1942

Just my 2 cents...

I apologise for the delay. I toddled off to bed after my last post as it was after midnight here and I've just surfaced. Yes, I like to play 100% realism just for the challenge (except for external cam screenshots). The concept of W@W is very appealing. But if some people are using manual targeting and others are basically letting the AI do the work, to my mind it sort of makes any tonnage figures kind of hard to evaluate. I realise that you want this to be an inclusive activity and I'm not trying to be snooty about it. It's just the way that I prefer to play.

Yes, but as the WaW site says - it's really not about the tonnage. I think you're missing the fact that WaW is NOT a league in the competitive sense of the word. There's no competition going on, no "MVP" awards for tonnage, no effort to evaluate player performance based on sinking stats.

The key is improving immersion. And that's where WaW's sense of organization and community really comes into play. It really fixes one of SHIII's biggest "bugs" - the feeling that you're all alone out in the atlantic. If any kind of merit is given to players, it's for contributing to this community feel as much as possible.

That's an excellent point and I probably should have accorded it more weight before posting. But I guess a lot of real-life kaleuns were Type-A competitive types themselves...lol.
