Default 24th November 2010 - General Strike in Portugal. Police charges on the picket line of

24th November 2010 - General Strike in Portugal.

According to statistics 80% of Portuguese workers joined the strike in the public and private sectors. The images that follow are employees of CTT (communications) or better from a picket line of CTT and linked to the union (CGTP-INTER).

(Unedited version) Workers ctt Cabo Ruivo are today on strike forming a picket line in these facilities, being the target of intimidation by the police for intervention. This is a clear violation of the right to strike, trying to hinder the role of the pickets.

My comment in facebook about this sadness:

****ing fascist **** country and even repression and are increasingly pushing people to social exclusion! Country of **** liar and anti-social and democracy in name only ... and yet they say we belong to Europe geographically only! Shame!

Thats its your opinion and i respect that...but you dont know what this goverment cuts especial from the workers...correction all aways from the workers and strike its right you have and strike pickets.

Our country its ben like this from 25 of April 1974 time of revolution witch save the country from fascist goverment wich rule the country for more than 50 years. So more a strike it will not make any diference to you...the people just want to say they dont agree with this direction witch this goverment is taken us.

So they should just take whatever the government fires at them?

Don't forget Portugal isn't the US of Capitalist A. That you guys believe every worker should just be a slave to his employer is your problem. In Europe we still have some rights.

Aren't we all slaves to money?
today its a strike, tomorrow the government and the companies will figure out that its cheaper to outsource jobs to China and India
i think(no offence intended) that many Europeans are spoiled
In this age of advanced communications and transportation, what is it that a Portuguese guy could do that a Chinese or Indian guy can't do for 1/20th of his wage with no benefits?

And after that these strikers would figure out that they will get less money!

Very good point of view, Darkfish!

My point of view it was only to show the repressive away, and the pressure against this workers only because they are in strike and they are a strikepicket line from the CTT and they all so belong to the CGTP-INTER witch is a workers union. We are back to the fascist times and repressive goverment, and demoracy its only by name only, and for international needs...like to invite NATO summit in Lisbon...
