Congratulations to Vettel but in all honesty everything went the way he would have wanted.
Alonso has nobody to blame but himself, he was never going to win with his failure to get past the two Renaults. |

Congrats to Vettel, he and his car were the fastest package this year whenever they were (still) on track. I don't like him and didn't want him to win it, but no denying he had the speed.
I feel bad for Webber. I would have liked to see him win it, or even Alonso, over Vettel. They are guys who did their time in teams like Minardi and earned a faster car. Vettel and Hamilton have never been in a bad car. They were molded and packaged for F1. Basically they are to racing drivers what Kraft Singles are to cheese.... processed. |

Well, I saw some TV footage and comment about Alonso, which once again confirmed why I do not like him: he is hotblooded, arrogant, and often seeks the guilt for his failures in others. I did not mind so much who would make it today - except that I hoped it would not be Alonso. Bad sportsman he is, I think.
Schumacher can be happy that he survived today. Regarding the whole year, he is without doubt the loser of the season. I did not expect him to win the championship or to rival for the top places, but I expected better performance by him in the second half of the season, and at least 2 or 3 times amongst the top 3. But it did not happen. Instead: plenty of driving errors. Message of the season: the break from F1 probably was too long for him, routine and reflexes are gone. With his near-death today I wonder what his wife will tell him about continuing next year. I know what I would tell him, if I were her. But maybe Mercedes will decide it for the Schumacher family.

Regarding Schumacher....money is a great motivator. It shouldn't be in his case I know but I can't help feeling that is why he returned, certainly not the possibility of more fame having already won the championship 7 times IIRC.

I think money wasn't the motivation behind that. Schumacher is ambitious. He wants to compete and to come out on top. I think he was simply bored. He never really left racing behind him and was taking part in motorbike races in Germany.

Yes, it was not the money, but the craving for competing and being competitive. He tried to compete, but he was not competitive.
On motorbikes the past years, that did not go so well, he even almost killed himself. Now he again almost got killed in an F1 car. Let's hope he knows when it is time to step back - and stay there. A fact of life is we all become older. Him too. Fate gave him two warnings in relatively short time. He better recognise them as that.

One should not use this season as indicator for his performance. He is a perfectionist and a hard worker. Next season will show how good he still is. Schumi experienced all this already: His first Ferrari years were much worse and everyone knows how it ended ... with five titles. Congratulations to Vettel of course. With his outstanding performance, especially during the last four races "the donkey" or "fingerboy" (as some like to call him) is now champion. Give Petrov a contract! ![]() |

IIRC he had Eddi Irvine under control as a clear #2 driver and won three races.
![]() But one thing mustn't be forgotten: Schumacher is an excellent test driver who can develop a car. Since test driving has come to almost a complete stop he hasn't had much of a chance to improve the car himself for his liking. Maybe the new car will fit him better.

Rise of the dead!
Schumi did not had just one almost fatal accident in the last race this years, but - accidents as a result or not - produced very many driving and breaking errors. He is not the same anymore, I assume the feeling of the new cars (due to massive changes in regulations), reflexes and routine have detoriated too much. I do not expect him to ever become competitive for the top again, sorry. He made too many personal mistakes this year, and I take that as an indicator until he proves me wrong. So, now you can let it sink to the bottom! ![]()
