I had the predecessor to that one, B-17 Flying Fortress.

The Mighty Eighth would be a step up, but I've never tried it. I still have the original running on DOSBox, and I'm still waiting for a worthy followup. Just as long as it has random missions, and not the same 25 every time I play, I'll sign up.

Are you going to post a new thread when you release it?

I almost purchased that but spent my milk money on something else.

Milk i think it was.

at any rate.

I enjoy B-17 the mighty eighth, its a good game overall. But...

the graphics are terrible (after all it is 10 years old)

you never have more than like... 16 B-17s on screen.

the sound is easily messed up.

a good copy is hard to find.

you only get the one paint scheme despite the ability to select from several different bomb groups and squadrons.

lack of multiplayer is a real bummer.

but there is a fun quality about the game in general.

basically i think if they revamped the B-17 series like they did between SH2 and SH3 youd have a hell of a fun game on your hands.

that was one of the first video games i ever remember playing to be honest.

B-17 bomber along with:

Night Stalker
Frog Bog
Armor battle
Astrosmash
Sub Hunt
Space Spartans
White Water Rapids
Beauty and the Beast

there were several others.

Night Stalker would be cool... modernized into a 1st person shooter somehow.

I remember when i was like 5 years old my dad was playing B-17 and i was watching. The phone rang and he set the remote down. "I have one bomb left, dont drop it! Dont touch anything ill be right back."

he came back a couple of minutes later minus one bomb

he was like "You dropped my bomb!"

LMAO HAHAHA

There are three games I remember playing on Atari:

Centipede (of course)
Second was some kind of adventure game, and the third game you had to defend an underwater city from some sort of spaceships.

I also remember borrowing Spitfire from a friend. It was lame even for its time.

I'd like to see Centipede modernized as an FPS, but instead of shooting at the centipedes, you have have to fend them off with a Whiffle bat. (Or a waffle iron)

I think this B-17 sim should definitely come with a campaign editor and templates for the nose art, GR.
