I guess it's over.

Let's make a deal... if you ever manage to find out who and where I am, and show up here, I'll make you a cheesecake. I'll even let you have a piece before I get the restraining order.

Mmmm cheesecake. Unfortunately, I never met a cheesecake I did not love. <burp>

But the toppings are what make it awesome. My secret is that, unlike mom, I don't pour out a can of store-bought pie filling on top if it. I make my own blueberry or cherry topping. MUCH more tasty.

For cherry chocolate I like to use an Oreo crust instead of graham crackers and maybe sprinkle some good-quality flaked semi-sweet chocolate in with the cherry topping. I might experiment with putting chocolate chips into the cheesecake mix before baking next time.

Another one I like is making a "turtle" cheesecake - Oreo crust, caramel and chocolate sundae topping and pecans drizzled over the top.

Aaaaand... now I want cheesecake.

Will you marry me?
Or adopt me?
Or just bring me cheesecake when I am depressed?

Well whaddya know. I remember it like it was only... about twelve months ago.

Doesn't seem that long, actually. Sheesh. Time sure does fly when you're getting old.

Sounds like a good reason to make myself a cheesecake. I will have another reason to celebrate in a couple of weeks anyway - I'm due to be promoted to 2nd degree black belt on Nov 12.

Congratulations! I remember the pride I felt when I recieved my Second Dan (the equivalent to a 2nd degree in Aikido). So much work, but so very worth it in the end. I'm about a year away from my third. What discipline do you train in?

Kenpo jiujitsu. I will have a three year stretch after this promotion before I'm eligible for Sandan (3rd black).

I'm still trying to get used to the idea that I can do it at all, much less wear a black belt. It's one of those things that I decided to do because I'd always liked the idea of learning a martial art. I thought it would be fun and some exercise, and maybe I'd learn a couple useful defense skills. But it turned out to be one of those "duck, meet water" things... who knew?

I guess those 39 years of repressed hostility I had saved up were good for something after all.
