The way Europe had arranged it'S social wellfare states, said a comment in a paper two days ago, has become the textbook example for other continents of how NOT to do it. It is a guarantee for reaching national bancrupcty as soon as possible. The costs are destroying us from within. Our demands are beyond what we can afford.
I don't know of anybody in Europe that takes the EU seriously either. The European Parliament wants member nations to cut their national debts, and yet tells the people it has to have more money, for more bureaucracy that already is expensive, ineffective, unfair, and quite probably - unless they fully open the books - illegal.

The costs are indeed destroying us from within, but it's not the demands of the people, just the faceless bureaucrats in their ivory towers - not even just the one tower, but two!

Although this is just my opinion, I'm quite certain that if the UK had been given the chance of a referendum on ANY part of the EU it would be pretty much a resounding 'NON'.

How do the average man-on-the-streets feel throughout the rest of Europe?

We let these countries catch up while our societies were only interested in profit. I guess we reap what we sew.

sow as in sow seeds which you end up reaping as in a crop.

You might rip what you sew, but you can only reap what you sow.

It's saddening thing being convinced of the slow and eventual decline of your country, and have a fairly good idea of some of the reasons why it's happening, and yet being unable to do anything about it.
