Reflections on the Water(ROW)?

This is an older environmental mod that was released back in 2007 and I am unable to find the files. I'm surprised this mod isn't popular anymore because it is absolutely beautiful in every area of the game. Pacific Environments 4/Environment 5 and Real Environment change the game in a different manner. I just remember playing the mod back in 2007 and remembering how awesome it was.

I was browsing through the original thread, which can be found here
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=650194

The problem is that all of the download links are broken and I am hoping the files still exist somewhere. Could anyone instruct me on how to download the ROW files?

Thanks.

Have a look in this folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?1apkhcn9uslgf

I do have the complete collection, so if there's something else you want please ask.

Will get Dave's work sorted out someday soon...

ROW was taken over and renamed after the original mod maker got sick and stopped working on it (sadly he never recovered). it was made for a much earlier version of the game and even if you found a copy of ROW somewhere it would likely cause some CTD issues.

Leo turned ROW over to another modder he trusted and it was renamed and became what turned into Env 5 or PE4 (i forgot which one) but AFAIK one was a reinterpretation of his work and one tried to stay true to ROW settings where the other mod wanted to use different settings because they thought it looked better.

no matter of which of these you liked best they both were great mods with the main differences in water color, smoke, and explosions that i can recall.

they were eventually merged into the Real Environment mod and that is the end result of years of work.

now you know the whole story

Thank you so much. ROW is definitely a work of art. The ocean physics are the biggest trump card while other environmental mods focus on sky/water colors and textures. Nothing has rivaled the Living Breathing Ocean mod aswell in some aspects.

RIP Dave.

EDIT: I am also looking for the roll pitch version5 for submarines. Thanks

Just installed everything and I like it morso than stock. I never liked PE or Real Environment because of the unatural water colors.
No CTDs BTW.

It's all a matter of taste. About the only problem is none of the megamods are tweaked with ROW, so keep that limitation in mind.

That's the only way to describe Dave's work! We all owe him bíg time...

do yo have a link to where it's described? Only have a faint recollection of it mentioned once...

Or perhaps it's the optional mod from PE4? The're two parts included in the PE4 mod...

Yes? They are all Dave's original files.

And no. But only in the sense that if you open Dave's scene.dat in S3D, it will not read two nodes of data.
SHIV on the other hand is apparently very relaxed with such details and doesn't seem to mind it...

The colour of ocean and sky at sea are very specific ...and very hard to master and convey in both sims and other mediums. The difficulty lies in the extreme delicacy of the tints and shades of blue and green that either look right and work or don't. It takes a keen eye and much experience at sea or looking at accurate photos and images of the sea in various climates and conditions to be able to set up the right colours in SH. He did IMHO the best job yet...and i am very glad these files are still available.

It is for those of us who treasure accuracy and the most realistic rendering a treasure to have this set. And from a special guy.

Have a look at this, ROW Sub Reflections and Roll Pitch Mod: http://www.mediafire.com/?s2timyd1pxdrvym

But be aware major improvements on subs in other areas will be lost, if you use this mod.
Better use S3D to read values in Dave's files and then transfer them to your newer sub...

Folder for other ROW works uploaded so far: http://www.mediafire.com/?1apkhcn9uslgf

Default ROW restored Scene!

ROW restored scene.dat is available here: http://www.mediafire.com/?j422v2wo8i9wq2l

Original values are read by use of SH3MiniTweaker and SH4 scene-tweak file and then typed into LeoVampire's original scene.dat with new EnvSim and EnvDat nodes inserted.

Skwasjer have restored Leo's scene.dat before, but I can't find any of these in the packages I have in possesion?
If you have an original ROW scene.dat with original date and nodes shown correct in S3D, please share!

I have a bunch of ROW-related downloads in my collection, but none of them seems to be ROW itself - just add-ons by other people. If one of them turns out to be relavent I'll be glad to put it up for download.

I have this one if it helps ?

"1.4 compatable 12/17/07

Work By: LeoVampire

What I did in this vs of the control's for the water reflection

I increased the Refraction level of the water to show more of the
sky's color's on the ocean especialy at sun set and sun rise.

Besides the prior work I did to increase the distance of the sun's
halo reflection projection onto the water.

Unfortunatly if you do not have an NVidia card for graffic's you
will not get the full effect's of the changes I made here.

But no matter what over all color effect's are increased for the ocean.

Also contained in this file is my Scene file for all ocean effect's
and reflection effect's for the ocean.

Living Breathing ocean is in here with some minor adjustments to
give more of a storm effect for 15 mps wind state's.

View distance has been adjusted so that ships and smoke from funnels
match up more in visable view.

So sub's will not fly through waves and ride them better I do sugest
using the NEW Sub reflection roll pitch mod of ROW."

If ya want it holler.... I'll post it up for ya........
