And the amount of energy (fat) required for higher brain function and development as apposed to digestion.

Anyone describing the smell of bacon as disgusting is deranged.

Yeah, you can not be allowed to eat it, but your nose is still wired like anyone else. It's disgusting for the same reason unhidden women are likely disgusting to that person—smells yummy but can't have.

There are some smells and flavors that need to be "learned" to appreciate. Bacon is NOT one of them.

In my pre-vegetarian days, I would have found that sandwich appetizing if it was just bacon or just beef. I never liked the taste of them put together.

My father in law has a jewish background (ethnically, anyway, he's an atheist). He was on the Atkins diet for a while (he was in his 70s at the time), and I had my family's standard Christmas morning meal going when they came to see the kids Christmas morning—bagels and lox (my dad (catholic) always went out for the paper and some breakfast stuff, and on xmas the only place open was a jewish deli, so every year he'd bring bagels and lox for xmas breakfast).

Anyway, I'm making bagels, and my father in law proceeds to take out his bag of Atkins snack food—pork rinds (yum!). He smears cream cheese on one, then puts lox on top.

I asked if there was some special jewish hell for that. He thought there probably was.

That sandwich would be perfect if it had a pork chop slid into it.

I misread that the first time as:

EDIT: I know what hummus is. Dyslexics should not quickly glance at replies, as I did in this case.

From Wiki :
That is the root of confict here lol :

Quote:
In October 2008 the Association of Lebanese Industrialists petitioned to the Lebanese ministry of Economy to request protected status from the European Commission for hummus as a uniquely Lebanese food, similar to the Protected Geographical Status rights held over regional food items by various European Union countries.[36][37][38] Fadi Abboud (president of the Lebanese Industrialists Association), stated that "Israelis have usurped several Lebanese and oriental products",[1]. According to Abboud, Lebanon exported the first hummus dish in 1959.[39] As a response, food critic Janna Gur wrote: "The success of certain brands of Israeli hummus abroad may have been what brought about Abboud's anger", leading him to claim that Israel has been "stealing" their country's national dishes, like hummus, falafel, tabbouleh and baba ghanouj.[40] In response, Shooky Galili, an Israeli journalist specialising in food who writes a blog dedicated to hummus),[2] said that "trying to make a copyright claim over hummus is like claiming for the rights to bread or wine. Hummus is a centuries old Arab dish—nobody owns it, it belongs to the region.[41] As of late 2009, the Lebanese Industrialists Association was still "preparing documents and proof" to support its claim.[42]

IIRC pork is considered unclean in Islam, similar to Judaism. IIRC.

I love sausage. In fact, I like anything pork related. Well I do have a few exceptions such as pickeled pigs feet and pork rinds.
