Default Modding Challenge: start game paused

Because of the loading times of SH3 saved games, it would be nice if you could fire it up, and go do some dish washing, feed your dog, or do some shaving (no forget that) .
And then come back and find your game loaded and paused, waiting for you to press a key and start playing immediately.

As far as I tried, one could change the default gaming speed (RealTime=1) to 0 (it's in the main.cfg file). This will start the game paused, but will pause the game when switching between most stations as well. So that's not good enough.

Has anyone ever tried to make the game start paused?

Hi !

It is an interesting Idea, that after Loading a Savegame the Game is in Paused Modus !

But for me not necessary, because I´ve loading times with all Super-MODs plus many additional MODs from 3 - 4 Minutes ! And that´s not enough time for dish washing, feed the dog and so on.....

Best regards,
Magic

Mrs. privateer would have my head if I did not do the dishes.
Storm would have the rest of me if I did not feed him!

Not a mod but a workaround idea came to mind.

When I play SH3 I like to have my usual music playing when just cruising along and then I pause it when something happens (action, I need to think/calculate). To achieve this I use foobar and G15 keyboard controls.

The reason I mentioned this is because I noticed that I can't control this when SH3 is loading (at loading screen), it's as if the action (play/pause/change track) is suspended until SH3 has finished loading. When it is fully loaded it starts/stops the music or change the track playing. It can be used as a sort of crude notification system so that I can hear when the loading is done.

I was thinking that it is possible to make this work with an external macro application, you bind the pause key (in SH3) to a key or a key combination and then when the loading starts you press this key (or keys). If it works anything like my music it will pause the game after it has loaded, everything being ready to play whenever you get back.

Now, I can't test this currently but I'll see what I can do tomorrow or during/after the weekend but it shouldn't be to hard to test.
