RE supermods:

It occurs to me that the conditions set by the community in SH3 that gave spark to supermods in the way people think of them.. were... perhaps... unique? The right combination of personalities, at the right place, at the right time, saying the wrong things to each other?

What about SH4, that didn't involve that scene, right? When i think about it.. i think it did, just indirectly, or as a result of. But even then it wasn't to the scale of SH3 because the teams involved were SMALL. That is not to diminish any of the work done in SH4. It is to say though, that from a community aspect, there were alot less people involved.

My point is, don't expect the same as supermods go. The conditions within the community are really what dictate the outcomes.

Yep, and they are now reaping the rewards from it, and their server being down. I wonder what the loss in sales is from having their requirements to play the sim? Tho I expect the loss is substantially more than SH3 or 4 combined.... tho they'll never say or admit it.

They,UBISOFT, relied on the initial preorder sales. Then with sites like SubSim to give hope.

People still buy SH5 even if their internet or Computer isn't up to the challenge just to have it if, situations change. Or just to complete their collection.

You may well be right, though SH3 is still benefitting from modding that SH4 never recieved, and this goes far beyond the supermods. It probably comes from the initial bad reaction to SH4, but people are still creating things for SH3 that they just don't seem to care about for the later game(s). Of course I'm not talking about you or any of the other talented people who poured their love into it and made it right, but all those little things I always complain about, i.e. the details that don't make it work better but just make it feel better.

I hope SH5 will eventually see that same attention, even if SH4 does not.

Default dont listen to them..

blahblah.. sh5 sucks

1) takes too much space

2) memory hog (((crunchycrunchy))
..takes too long to load up + lags because all the retardedly large textures/files all loaded at once.

3) the missions/gameplay isn't worth the effort
there are far better games out there to play
while we all wait for the meteor.

stick to sh3 + gwx

No, you should listen to them. These guys know what they are talking about and have given some very good advice. SH5+mods does not suck.

Am I correct in assuming from your (present), and post love of modders, hence with your admirable demeanour that your excursion to the portals of this forum and mods forum has been one featuring tribulations of noteworthy magnitude ???
