Lot of great captain's got their first commands with one of the 'ducks'. Operationaly they weren't sent west of the North Sea that often due to their small opertaing range, the type II's have their distinct flavor and appeal; just like the type IX's. Some like the smaller and more restrictive characteristics of the II's that make them a challenge while other's prefer the Cadillac size and comforts of the IX's.

I prefer the IX Boats as I like to go further out to sea, yes its got lots of ells but I don't waste them on small ships.
