Default 1982 South Atlantic Submarine War - new book

Well, after two years of research and writing, I finished my book about ASW from the Argentine perspective (mainly carrier-borne Trackers and Sea Kings against HMS Spartan and HMS Splendid, a real and forgotten history)

The book will be on bookstores (here in Argentina) next week.

Here is the front cover and back.

Also, the friends at ElSnorkel.com published the intro ( AFTER THE BRITISH SUBMARINES ) They had an online translator available (the little flags...)

This is a huge step for an amateur historian like me. The plan for next year is translate it to english (so Fatty keep prepared)...

Regards!
Mariano

I knew Argentina had ASW aircraft (Trackers and Neptunes plus the helos) but I never knew they used them for ASW... I figured they just did reccees for the British surface ships.

I also wondered if they used their aircraft to try and sanitize the area ahead of Belgrano.

A lot of untapped history here I think...

for Marcantilan!

The book covers mainly ASW defense of Task Group 79.1, centered on the ARA 25 de Mayo (the carrier) . The TG used a comprehensive and sustained ASW plan (using the destroyer escort, Sea Kings and Trackers), and it limited British submarines freedom of action.

Of course, Belgrano TG did not use proper ASW tactics and did not have organic air cover. So the Conqueror enjoyed enough freedom of action to shot a three salvo from 1200 yards.

The contrast is the main point of the book.

Regards!
