I have it and have been playing it. Definitely more game then sim, but the name is "F1 2010 - The Game". That said, I think if you tweak the FFB settings a bit it feels every bit as good as some of the rFactor F1 mods like FSONE or CDTP.
As for the bugs, there are definitely some there. Your lollipop man is extra cautious for example. If there is someone in a pit lane on any track that is on the same continent as you, then he will not release you. Seriously though, he will hold you when there are clear gaps and you will loose places if you pit with many other cars. I usually avoid it by minding the pit traffic. There are alot of people saying that AI is not using fuel calculations while the player is. I think that is an overblown myth. If I run a full race with fuel sim on in a Lotus, I finish back 25% of the field, as a Lotus should. Turn it off and I can win in the same car. For alot of people this somehow proves the AI isn't using fuel.. don't ask me how they work that one out, but you will find alot of people claim it is so. The AI can have some freakish behavior but the game uses a "catchup" file like Dirt2. I think most of the "fuel bug" claims are down to weird behavior caused by that file. On PC however that file can be removed totally and I have found the racing better. I have also seen alot of people say the AI won't pit. That must only happen on shorter races, I have done all of mine so far at 100% distance and they always pit, usually with a 2 stop strategy. Tires seem to explode at odd times. Tire punctures are very frequent, especially if you drive it hard but it is much too sensitive. Take the curbs in the same way as a real F1 driver, or even the AI and you will almost certainly get a puncture. The odd thing is to prevent this you disable damage, not tire wear.. that seems to mean punctures are associated with the damage model, not tire model.. odd indeed. It definitely need the patch they are working on, there are frustrating issues but don't believe everything you read about it on forums. My short take, if you want online racing skip it. The online is made for kiddies that want to compare times on a leaderboard. rFactor is still far superior for online racing. If you want a game that is a 1 player RPG of an F1 driver, then once patched I think it will be enjoyable. **Edit - I did forget to say... the tracks... freakin amazing! |
