I have TMO's Akikazi DD setup to show up as a regular escort in my install and that thing is a nightmare! It seems to detect me alot further away than the other DDs and its loaded with so many DCs that when it drops a pattern you had better be well out of the area. The Type A/B is a close second, but the Akikazi owns the seas.

You talking about Bungo Pete....I know it has an elite crew, lot's of charges, ect...not sure if it throws as many as Type AB. I never see it since playing RSRD, I assume it's gone.
Come to think of it, another ship I've never seen in RSRD is the Conte Verde..think that's how it's spelled, large pass. ship. |

I took parts of TMO,RFB,OM and alot of smaller mods to build my install so i'm not sure what impact this would have on a TMO install. It would probably break the Bungo Pete Mission.
But its simple to change it back. Just open the Data\Sea\NDE_Akikaze folder and open the NDE_Akikaze.cfg and change the unit type from 17 to 4. Then Open the Data\Roster\Japan\Sea folder and open the DEAkikaze.cfg there and change its unit type to 4 also. This changes it from a DE to a DD and it will appear like the other DDs. If it breaks the bungo pete mission just change both files back to 17.

I think you've mentioned that you run TMO and RSRD, and while I can't speak for RSRD, I can confirm the Conte Verde appears in TMO. I ran into one a while back. Surprisingly well armed bastard. I underestimated it's guns. As for it's disappearance in RSRD, I can only guess it's because the Conte Verde had only one ship used as a troop ship (iirc), and that was near Italy. No where near the pacific. It may have be taken out by the auther of RSRD for that reason. Really, I've noticed quite a few ships that seem out of place in the pacific. My guess it they're from earlier in development. Perhaps they were considering an atlantic campaign and finished a few models that they felt it'd be a shame to waste? Just a guess, btw. P.S. There's a damn fly that's been buzzing around my head and PC screen while I've been typing this. It needs to die. In a fire. |

You're probably right about the Conte, Lurker being historical as he is would've left em out.
Still, the Conte looks like the Taiyo Maru. I read a great book years ago, wish I could remember the title that told how it was used by the IJN to scout for attack on Pearl "On 22 Oct 1941 she departed Yokohama for Hawaii with three IJN officers aboard to scout out the route the Japanese striking force would follow one month later on the way to Pearl Harbor. Also collected intelligence assembled by Japanese consulate in Honolulu. Sailed for Japan 5 Nov, arriving 17 Nov just in time for briefing of Japanese midget submarine crews. Sunk by American submarine Grenadier in the China Sea, 8 May 1942" I bet those 3 had one heck of a time...Would make a good movie... ![]() Last edited by Armistead; 10-09-10 at 06:16 PM. |

Despite this, the detection capabilities are influenced by: a) their speed. At 25 knots, they are deaf like snakes, b) the wind speed. For 0 m / sec, you can be detected several miles, c) the noise made by your sub and your crew, d) the profile that shows your figure, e) the drag of your periscope. The destroyers are then classified poor to elite. This affects their response to aggression. Gibus

sim.cfg is not the only file that controls escorts.
AI_sensors.dat (or additional AI_sensors_ files) also configures sensors, which controls AI. All the specifics of given sensors are in one of those dats. |

Also i believe the .sns file in each ships folder specifies different types of sensors that are used.
For example the Akikazi uses... [Sensor 1] NodeName=O01 LinkName=AI_Visual StartDate=19380101 EndDate=19451231 [Sensor 2] NodeName=H01 LinkName=Type3-1P StartDate=19380101 EndDate=19421231 [Sensor 3] NodeName=H01 LinkName=Type3-2P StartDate=19430101 EndDate=19451201 [Sensor 4] NodeName=N01 LinkName=Type3-1A StartDate=19380101 EndDate=19421231 [Sensor 5] NodeName=N01 LinkName=Type3-2A StartDate=19430101 EndDate=19451231 While the Akizuki uses... [Sensor 1] NodeName=O01 LinkName=AI_Visual StartDate=19380101 EndDate=19451231 [Sensor 2] NodeName=H01 LinkName=Type93-1P StartDate=19380101 EndDate=19430901 [Sensor 3] NodeName=H01 LinkName=Type93-5P StartDate=19430901 EndDate=19451231 [Sensor 4] NodeName=N01 LinkName=Type93-1A StartDate=19380101 EndDate=19421001 [Sensor 5] NodeName=N01 LinkName=Type93-3A StartDate=19421001 EndDate=19430901 [Sensor 6] NodeName=N01 LinkName=Type3-1A StartDate=19430901 EndDate=19441101 [Sensor 7] NodeName=N01 LinkName=Type3-2A StartDate=19441101 EndDate=19451231 So i would assume the different sensors have different abilitys.

Yes, the sns file merely tells the game what sensors to use for a given cfgdate of vessel. The LinkName points at the name within a dat. The specifics of the sensor are all in that dat.
