Well, it's taken a while, not the nine months it took to design and build the real thing...but at times it felt like it.

The Crystal Palace is now approximately 60% done. All that is left to do now are the grounds in front of it.

Ze Hindenburg underconstruction

It's 41 blocks in diameter. and 245 blocks long.

Looking up from the bottom ring.

The mine I built for excavating cobblestone.

Looking straight down in the mine.

The rear-view from the Western shore of my island.

My castle

The Glass hall

Sadly there are no metal beams in Minecraft yet
It's been a labour of love alright, but definitely worth it.

Oh, Spike, a new little hut type thing has emerged near your castle not far from the Central Line station, it's part of the Greenwich Foot Tunnel which now links your castle, Angus's island and my castle and will hopefully go on to the Crystal Palace.

I wonder if I should do Crystal Palace High Level railway station....

You could technically use Iron blocks. But you would need an obscene amount of iron.

I noticed the hut, one of the pictures was taken while standing on it.

Yah, I have a fair bit of Iron...but not that much

You know...perhaps that's an idea for a future block.

Steel...you could craft it, perhaps from Iron and wood, although that should really need to be furnaced...eh, there would be a way I'm sure.

Steel should require Iron and coal. And just require that you re-smelt any completed iron.

It should double as not only a building supply, but as a tool requirement.

Edit: I keep getting on to work on the Hindenburg. Then I realize that I need wood, don't feel like cutting any, so I log off.

You should plant your own forest. I loved wood in that game as its easy to get and very renewable. Before the 'demo' expired, i redid my castle in solid stone and expanded it. It was 6 levels (3 underground) plus a sky tower. Needless to say it used a massive amount of stone, which needed a massive amount of wood (and like 8 furnaces going at once) and cobblestone.
